Neurodivergence and Creativity
The INFJ personality type and INFP personality type can easily fall into self-judgment about our ability to focus, or our lack of focus. This comes up especially strongly around the creative process. The INFJ personality type and INFP personality type tends to believe that “creative focus” means completing a project using linear steps, and being very organized all along the way. The INFJ personality type and INFP personality type also usually assumes that being focused means we need to be efficient and fast when completing the project, and that we also need to stick with one creative project until it’s done.
Being linear, organized, efficient, fast, and sticking with one thing until it’s d...

Creativity and Self-Sabotage
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.День назад
INFJ personality types and INFP personality types both tend to struggle with self-sabotage in the creative process. Self-sabotage is an energy that is always driven by fear. For INFJ personality types and INFP personality types, the fear is often that if we experience a creative success, we will then be held to that higher standard for ever after. When we inevitably fail to meet that standard a...
Codependency and Creativity

INFJ personality types and INFP personality types tend to struggle severely with codependency throughout life. This can be extremely detrimental to our creative lives because codependency is a major block to creativity. INFJs, INFPs, and the Midlife Transition

INFJ personality types and INFP personality types tend to have a different experience of the midlife transition than other mainstream personality types. INFJs, Narcissists, and Enmeshment

Many INFJ personality types and INFP personality types grow up in homes where enmeshment is a common occurrence. Enmeshment is a form of codependency that is not often talked about in relation to narcissism, but it is strongly linked to narcissistic family dynamics. With enmeshment, the boundaries between family members (especially parents and children) are vague, blurred, unpredictable, and co...
INFJs and Aging Narcissist Parents

INFJ personality types and INFP personality types frequently struggle with caregiving for an aging narcissist parent. This was fascinating, I appreciate you explaining this. In my recreational experiences I have had deeper experiences than my friends, and wondered why. I've always found those experiences to be spiritually powerful and they brought up a wide range of emotions that my friends weren't expecting. I've never had a bad experience though. Life changing in a good way a few times even! But it's definitely best to take the controlled medical route rather than making risky decisions 😅

As neurodivergent people, we are still considered weak and damaged by the society. They still want us to be fixed and healed so that we can become just like them. No one understands that there is nothing to fix and this is a completely different way of being, and its ok to be like that. Just as we dont judge the diversity of animals and birds in nature, people need to learn that there is a diversity of brains too. To be honest, people are sooo limited. And then, we turn their rejection inside ourselves and we think we are wrong. Such a sick society.

I was given a test by a psychologist knowing I am Dyslexic, letting my use my red clear plastic over the words, and reading questions upside down. When results came in , I was told I am classified as an INFJ, going into the meaning of the acronym. Which did not mean all that much to me. I am good in art . Frustrating , because in the world of art, "REALISM' is NOT accepted in Art Galleries as being REAL art, but just being a good copyist .Robert Batemans work is never accepted either. Yet, go to art galleries, and art critics will give RAVE REIVIES of an Artists work of doing Animal Meat hanging from a hook in a Slaughter HOUSE. Or a stack of dirty dishes in a sink. or a portrait. But Wildlife is not accepted unless in the process of being killed, or Dead, and being prepared for a meal, with a pot, some onions, and carrots on the side. It is as it saying GOD"S Creation is nothing of Value, or of beauty. I have seen other peoples realism of nature , and they are very goo. My problem is I live Far below poverty., and no way can I afford to enter an art show, and pay for the costly entrance fee, plus the use of a boot, have my work Matted, and Framed. I use to do peoples pets but too many said they would pay for the painting when finished, but never had the money but still wanted the painting to be able to show someone, and may be they would help loan the money. However, trusting one HONESTY , was short lived., and they would not give back the painting, So, I continue to paint wildlife, on Flat boar canvas to save room. to store. But am told flat board canvas is Cheap Junk, I use Rust-Oleum , and sand in between coats. Then I am told because I use Acrylic, the painting are hardly worth anything, however I plan to go over some areas in OIL paint. It is not easy because in order to keep better friends I have to not let them know Why I can not go places ,or join them for lunch I have to make up stores,, WHY do I do this, because I know if they knew I lived below poverty, they would not bother to talk to me. Tell me places they have visited, about a play they had seen or even places they had eating ,, I know there are others, that would LOVE to sit and Gab, about getting plastered, or how they almost got busted by the police.. THEY may be NICE. but sorry I am not interested. in their. often limited "F" vocabulary. Therefore it can be very LONELY, and not having money to afford to do many things. It took me this long to save enough to have enough materials to paint, .and sketch. Years ago I had everything stolen , Years of sketches of wildlife and notes. many of my paintings I kept in a tote gone, and all my art supplies. I am 76, and so I have NO excuse. I try to set a goal to do at least 2paintgs and 1/2 a week, So far for June , I ran into problems, because i did not like it. . STOPPED , and went back to it, and almost finished 2 but behind 10 paintings. YOUR POD CAST seems to be more on Creative Writing.. I do not have time to fill my mind with negative thoughts. OTHERS tell me , why am I wasting my time on NATUE , when all one has to do is take a Photo , and get the same thing, Or that splatter, or pouring different color acrylic on a canvas is in. Yes some are pretty, a hit and miss. I am working on a pair of Cormorants, Double Crested. many have not a clue about that this bird comes to our Stated to breed. Ask people and most can not Name more than 10 birds, trees, wild plants, or animals., or even Recognize when they see a picture, yet they can and recognize 1,000's of logos, I dress simple, that is easy to be in style. I pay lowest rent almost close to 800 a month. I have my Hot Water on Vacation, use just a Microwave, no stove or fridge, too costly. Winter , heat is set to about 50, mainly to keep the pipes from freezing. I like where I live , some what away for Crime and Noisy College students. that act and behave very Ghetto , minus the theft and shooting. As for your POD Cast I did not get much out of it, probably when I discovered the ART Aspect was mainly for WRITERS, and not the ART in use of materials. According to many pod casts relating to INFJ's not all that much as you made it seem to be. Almost to the point of being self destructive. AND you seem to say YOU KNOWN A lot of INFJ personalities. GUESS the INFJ is not as RARE, as it is said to be. Which might be true, Most pod cast speak of those that seem to be Stable, in the economic level , very Pretty , hair like they just stepped out of a salon., very well dressed, clear skin, have Friends, than those that are not wealthy. Which makes me wonder are INFJ's shut off's of other INFJ's just striving to stay a float, Sort of the same reason why I do not tell those I like ,I am not on their level in the Economic living style.

I wish someone could have explained this to me when I was a kid in a way I could have understood. I feel like I’ve been in the dark for so long. In some ways I guess it’s nice that I’ve kinda self taught myself to “ get by.” But it wasn’t easy and feel like I’ve developed many different skills that were/are helpful, but now it’s hard to tell what exactly is natural and what are the safety mechanism I’ve built that now limit me and cause confusion. The other issue is I’ve fought for so long by myself that I don’t even know how to ask for help or use it. Because like you said most offered help doesn’t work. I couldn’t imagine how people before the internet with access to all the this information would have figured it out. Other than libraries. But libraries didn’t have algorithms did they? lol. It’s so awesome you do what you do and offer so much understandable help to those of us in need.

I've got a tip for dyslexic INFJs when it comes to writing. I wrote a novel and intuitively following Lauren's advice here, I just worked on the scenes I had in my head that was was excited about. Then, the more I worked on it, the more I got excited by other scenes, until I basically had all the action points covered, and then I when back and started on all the connective tissue of the story - getting characters from point A to point B. And I blazed along until the first draft was done. And then everything came to a grinding halt when it came to editing. As a dyslexic, I knew something was wrong and it didn't matter how long I stared at it I could not figure out the problem. So anyone having problems with revision, especially dyslexics, will find this helpful. Recently I heard about using the 'read aloud' function in Microsoft Word and Word-compatible programs. I know I can hear problems even when I can't see them. And being dyslexic reading back something aloud doesn't work, because even with our own writing we can't place the emphasis correctly or see the problems. Anyway, when it comes to my novel, I did most of the work in 2001 and 2002 but when it came to proofing it I was just spinning my wheels and pulling my hair out and getting more and more depressed and discouraged. So, though I've pulled it out a couple of times since then, I felt that since I was completely blind to the problems I was trying to solve, I was just wasting my time and making things worse. I didn't even know till a year ago I was dyslexic, so I just felt stupid and incompetent being completely unable to edit my work. I hope this helps and saves people a lot of frustration and self-torture.

I remember being taught how to tell time as a small child on an analog clock. And I remember the adult, a neighbor, telling me the big hand points to the hours and the little hand points to the minutes. Well to me the tall skinny hand was the little hand and the short fat hand was the big hand, kind of like with people - men. I think I was thinking Laurel and Hardy. As tall, thin men were considered littler, smaller, and weaker than wide, robust bigger men. That was my reasoning. INFJ think in terms of people and relationships. And I remember this adult just flat out telling me no, that's wrong. And I remember thinking, no I got it right and being confused as to what was wrong. One might wonder why an adult didn't notice that I had the time reversed in terms of minutes and hours, which might have signaled a clarification was needed to the instructions. Now, as an adult, I wonder why wasn't telling analog time just taught based on the much more descriptive 'long hand' and the 'short hand'? Anyway, as a little kid this kind of thing, which I'm sure happened pretty regularly, damaged my confidence.

Lauren - I found your Medium articles doing research into writing in a new genre. I get your newsletter and was thrilled you have this YT channel. This video resonates. I had published a book and when I found formatting issues, I pulled the whole thing (which is the right thing to do) and when my laptop died before I could fix it, I gave up. I'm loathe to ever return to it now. Worse, I did tell people about my book and keep getting asked when it'll be back up on Amazon. I get the fear of feeling of exposure/judgment. I am an INTP. Do you do work with us types? I've read that INTPs make very poor fiction writers and should focus on Non-Fiction instead. I'd love to hear your thoughts, or opinions on INTP. When I have the extra money, I look forward to joining one of your classes in the future! I appreciate the work you're doing.
